Protection of works: Copyright

Copyrights are an essential part of a company's intellectual property rights. They differ from other IP rights in that they cannot be registered, but are instead granted to the creator at the moment a piece of work is created.

Work is defined as the form of expression resulting from a creative process that can be protected. However, it is not possible to grant protection under copyright for an idea behind the work. Copyrights provide protection for works in, for example, literature, visual arts and music as well as computer software.

We provide assistance in all matters related to copyright management, from documentation of copyrights to defending rights. We also submit statement requests to the Copyright Council, which issues statements on whether a given piece of work will be granted copyright protection.
