Antti Plathin

Antti Plathin graduated from Technical University of Tampere, majoring in paper converting technology. Moreover, he has studied machine design, product development technology and industrial economy.

In 2004, Antti began his career in the IPR field at the National Board of Patents and Registration. He was employed for about three years as an examiner, specialising in patent applications relating to paper industry appliances, crushers, and door and window technology.

Before joining the team of Patent Attorneys of Kolster in 2011, Antti worked as a patent engineer for an international elevator and escalator company for about five years. He has deep technological knowledge of elevators and other lifting systems, escalators and automatic doors. He has drawn up a large number of patent applications and has also appeared as an inventor in patent applications. He has attended to the prosecution of patent applications both in Finland and abroad and has experience in opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office. In addition, he has worked with competitor surveillance in the field of IPR, carried out various freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses and trained inventors in issues relating to patenting and detection of inventions.

At Kolster, Antti will concentrate on protection of various mechanical and electromechanical innovations. He also works as an in-house consultant for one of our client companies.
