Tapio Valkeiskangas

Tapio Valkeiskangas is Head of the Electrical and Mechanical branch at Kolster. He has a degree in power engineering from Lappeenranta University of Technology. After his studies, Tapio worked for VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland at the electrics department, where he became well versed in the simulation technology for nuclear power plants. Before transferring to Kolster in 1979, he worked for three years as an examiner for the National Board of Patents and Registration and concentrated on patent applications in nuclear power technology, measuring technology and optics.

At Kolster, Tapio has been involved in protecting a wide variety of innovations in the field of mechanical engineering. In addition to patent protection, he is also well versed in design protection.

His specialities include rock drilling technology, mechanical and chemical wood processing machinery, paper and board manufacturing methods, various measuring instruments in industrial processes, cable manufacturing technology, terminal block systems, anaesthesia and fitness devices, central lubrication systems and components, and construction engineering.

Thirty years of experience in patenting make him an expert in analyzing the strength of the scope of patents. He has successfully handled numerous oppositions and patent disputes.
