Arto Karppinen

Arto Karppinen studied electronics and telecommunications at the University of Oulu, and during his post-graduate studies specialized in optoelectronics.

Before starting his career as a patent attorney, Arto worked for five years as a researcher for the electronics lab of the University of Oulu in the field of conventional optics and fibre optics design, optical materials, electronics design, and optical measuring techniques.

Since 1995 Arto has acquired solid experience at Kolster, working with telecommunications applications, especially mobile technology and testing equipment for mobile devices, radio interfaces, and channel emulation. In addition to the telecommunications sector, he is well versed in measuring technologies in the paper industry and the control of the paper-making process by using microwave technology, optical solutions, and automatic image processing.

Various devices measuring the performance of the human organ system and the related data transmission are also among Arto’s specialities. In addition to drafting patent applications, Arto has also handled opposition proceedings.
