Juha Kaukonen

Juha Kaukonen has worked as Unit Manager at Kolster’s Tampere office since it was founded in 1987. Juha majored in mechanical engineering at Helsinki University of Technology, where he also studied personnel management and industrial economy.

Juha has more than 30 years of experience in the IPR field: he has also been employed as an examiner at the National Board of Patents and Registration and as a patent engineer in an international company in the mechanical engineering industry.

During his long career as a patent attorney, Juha has become well versed in mining, pulp, papermaking and boiler industries as well as in various innovations in these fields, relating to machines, devices, structures, methods and processes. Having a sense of technical curiosity, Juha has also been interested in electronics during the whole of his adult life, and he is well versed in protecting innovations in electronics and electrical engineering as well.

Juha has also extensive experience of patent disputes and litigations in Finland, Sweden and particularly Germany. In addition, he has attended numerous oral opposition proceedings at the European Patent Office. Juha is a popular lecturer on IPR matters and actively involved in domestic and international organizations in the field, participating in preparation of IPR legislation and agreements.
