Kati Leinonen

Kati Leinonen

“Over the years, I have developed a good understanding of what kind of patent is commercially valuable.”

Kati Leinonen is an experienced patent professional who has been working on invention evaluation, patenting and licensing for ten years. Kati joined Kolster as a patent attorney in September 2018 after serving as a Senior IP Specialist with Nokia’s Patent Unit, where she specialised in managing the company's patent portfolio, supporting and growing the patent licensing business, and the quality control of new patent applications. She spent the early years of her career in the product development of mobile phone operating systems. Since 2008, she has worked in various IP roles, as both a patent engineer and IP specialist. In addition, she has experience of working as a patent engineer for the gaming company, Rovio.

Kati has broad-ranging expertise in patenting, from identifying inventions and managing the patenting process to the defence and licensing of patents. She has plenty of experience in cooperating with licensing and litigation attorneys, which has provided Kati with a valuable perspective on the drafting of patent applications and assessing what kinds of patents provide a good basis for pursuing a licensing business.
