Timo Pykälä

Timo Pykälä

”Providing properly scaled services for businesses is particularly close to my heart; Finnish patent attorneys are conducting their own ‘campaign’ on behalf of Finnish industry around the world."

Timo Pykälä has had the privilege of working with some fine Finnish software and telecommunications companies and inventions for almost the last 30 years. He has a wealth of expertise in patenting inventions related to mobile phone networks and various software.

As a patent attorney for Kolster since 1996, Timo has drawn up around 300 first filing patent applications, which have led to about 800 patents all over the world. In addition, as a specialist he has analysed around a hundred patents, assessing their validity, compliance with standards, patent infringements, licensing, and other business-relevant issues. Timo also has extensive experience of codes of conduct for employee inventions and their legal application, as well as IP due diligence statements and IP training. In 2000, Timo was the first Finn to pass the European Patent Office’s EQE Patent Attorney Exam. He passed all parts of the exam in the one attempt, setting the bar high for the patent attorneys who come after him.
