Mika-Matti Laurila

"A great insight can be more than just a solution. It can be a protectable competitive advantage."

Mika-Matti Laurila helps Kolster’s clients identify and protect patentable innovations, particularly in the fields of electronics and sensor technologies.

He holds a doctoral-level expertise in electrical engineering and has extensive experience in academic research, especially in the areas of printed electronics and biosignal sensors. Before joining Kolster, he spent nearly a decade at Tampere University working on various research projects, most recently leading one which was focused on stretchable on-skin biosignal sensors.

He also has expertise in MEMS packaging interconnections, mechanical energy harvesters, and transistors. Mika-Matti brings a strong technical background to client work, supporting IPR strategies particularly in deep tech sectors.

Mika-Matti also serves as an expert in technology-based IPR evaluations and contributes to the technical consulting of client teams at various stages of the patenting process.

He believes that the best patents are born from a combined understanding of technology and business—a strong technical solution deserves equally strong protection.
