Simon Mügge

Simon Mügge, PhD, supports Kolster’s clients with patent matters, offering advice that is grounded in legal and scientific facts, and business needs while ensuring that the client remains in the driver’s seat.

Simon is highly experienced in drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the European Patent Office (EPO), particularly in complex scientific and technical fields. He is also highly skilled in post-grant opposition and appeal proceedings before the EPO. Simon has successfully represented clients in high-profile patent disputes, in both defensive and offensive roles. His clients include start-ups, SMEs, global corporations, universities, and research institutes.

Simon earned his PhD from the University of Bielefeld, specialising in biochemistry and immunology. Simon has passed the German patent attorney exam (Patentassessor) and is a European Patent Attorney (EQE) and European Patent Litigator.

Recognised by the IP STARS specialist guide as a “Rising Star” in both 2018 and 2019, he has since been continuously cited as a “Notable Practitioner”.

Simon is also a regular guest lecturer on IPR matters.
