Domains are an integral part of a company's IPR portfolio and brand. It is safe and economical to centralise management of the domain portfolio with a single, reliable partner, as there is a very wide variety of registrars, regulations and renewal time limits. The incidence of domain disputes and misuse has also become more widespread.
Domain management will become even more challenging in the future. Today, a company's website address can be practically any line of characters. For example, characters from alphabets other than the Roman can be used in a domain name. Once the planned reform of the domain name system takes effect, the number of domains will increase exponentially. The new domains may be comprised of characters from different alphabets and there will even be greater freedom to choose one's own suffixes. Indeed, companies will have give even more careful consideration to their domain policies.
A carefully planned domain portfolio is easier to manage and monitor. The selection of registrars is part of this careful planning, thus reducing the risk of domains falling into the hands of outside parties. It pays to move fast, as domains are usually granted on a first come-first serve basis. You must also remember to update your registration regularly in order to keep it.

Ensure domain availability
The domain is an integral part of your trademark, so ensure that the domain is available before choosing a trademark or company name. Using our domain search, you can safely, quickly and free of charge ensure that your chosen domain is available. The search will not make your chosen domain susceptible to increasing cases of domain theft and slamming. Some registers, such as .fi and .eu administered by the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority and EURid respectively, do not allow automatic searches for WHOIS data and do not share database information. Check the availability of .fi and .eu domains at the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority and EURid websites.
